Biography
Katie has been a Westfield Matilda for the past 6 years most recently featuring in the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the AFC Asian Cup 2010 in China.
Away from study and football Katie writes a monthly column for the Australian edition of FourFourTwo and is an ambassador for Adidas.
Katie is currently the joint 2nd highest goal scorer in Westfield Matildas history with 29 goals for Australia, sharing this spot with her Westfield Matildas team mate Sarah Walsh.
Katie is also heavily involved with Charity Football, an organization fronted by Wiggles manager Mark Conway that uses celebrity football matches to help raise money for UNICEF.
At the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2010 Gill produced the only goal in the Westfield Matildas semi-final against the highly rated Japan to not only put Australia through to the final but also guaranteed Australia’s qualification to its fifth consecutive FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Gill also calmly put away her penalty to help Australia to a perfect penalty shoot-out and the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Championship title for 2010.
